Angelina Jolie – Are You Listening?

March 21st, 2014

I’m still in my Lincoln phase in my historical reading. Just learning about Pinkerton, the coincidences that led to his investigator career, and his business practices.
One day, a young widow came to him. She’s described as not beautiful, but striking with direct blue eyes. Kate Warne was not a client, but she did have an agenda. Her pitch? To convince Pinkerton to hire her as a detective. He said something like “Convince me.” Pinkerton had his doubts, but he was willing to hear her rationale. She outlined her arguments: Warne felt she could befriend the significant females in the lives of suspected or known criminals, and so gather valuable information. Pinkerton thought for a few days, and hired Warne. She proved to be a valuable PI: one of her first tasks was to go under cover and gain the confidence of the wife of a suspected railroad thief. The strategy was successful, and the thief was convicted.
I want to learn more – I think the Pinkerton/Warne partnership would be a fantastic story to bring to the screen.
What do you think, Angelina?
