Late autumn journey: Wisconsin Coffee Shops Part 2

December 27th, 2016

coffee-door-ctyAny tour of Door County Coffee Shops wouldn’t be complete without a stop at the Door County Coffee and Tea Company. It’s a cheerful tearoom right on the main highway in the tiny village of Carlsville, between Sturgeon Bay and Egg Harbor. The Company serves hearty coffees and dainty teas in addition to offering a full lunch menu and pastries. We sampled their Earl Gray tea, the robust caramel pecan scone coffee, in addition to their specialty luncheon items (including pumpkin soup). All were delicious. The place was crowded, so I don’t know how well this cafe would work as a writing place for an hour or two. But, you could enjoy a delicious meal and take out a cup of java to go to fuel you for a writing session.
As we left Door County, we crossed the county line and entered the town of Algoma on the Lake Michigan shore. We stopped as Caffe’tlazo for lunch and coffee. We each ordered specialty coffee drinks with our sandwiches. The beverages and the lunch items were made to order and piping hot when they arrived at our table. If you’re heading through Algoma, I would definitely recommend a stop. Like the Coffee and Tea Company in Carlsville, Caffe’tlazo was packed at lunchtime. If you want to sip a coffee and work at writing, it would be best to go before or after the lunch hour.
