Believe

I”m taking a break from mystery writing for a while. Mystery is my first love and I WILL return to it. But I’m also working on a manuscript that falls under the heading of Women’s Fiction, (although, I really think it will appeal to some men, too). The story line features a middle-aged widow, her feelings about her deceased husband, fulfilling her last promise to him, and recreating her life.
The story takes place in Japan. I’ve been there a few times, and writing the story has increased my desire to return. A Japanese businessman will be instrumental in helping my protagonist sort through her feelings and move on with a new life.
My children have been so supportive – sending me gifts that are helping me instrumentally and creatively with this effort. I have a beautiful cherry blossom scarf to wear, cherry blossom tea to drink, and a wonderful book describing the evolution of the cherry tree in Japan and its migration to the United States.
After feeling that I’m facing an impossible task – I think I’ll be able to finish this project – and my efforts will result in an interesting story.
